Insured Commercial Painting Contractor

A.G. Williams Painting Company is Fully Insured—And That Matters More Than Ever In today's complex construction and maintenance landscape, hiring a fully insured painting contractor isn't just smart, it's essential. A.G. Williams Painting Company goes above and beyond to protect our commercial clients in both New York and Connecticut, with specialized insurance policies and indemnification agreements that shield building owners and property managers from unnecessary risk.

The Risk You May Not Know You're Taking

In New York State, Labor Laws 240 and 241 (commonly called the Scaffold Law) impose strict liability on property owners for injuries sustained by workers at heights, even if the property owner was not at fault.

What this means: If a worker falls on your property, you could be held legally and financially responsible. Even with a hold harmless agreement in place, you can still be sued, unless the contractor carries very specific insurance coverage.

Our Insurance Protects You

A.G. Williams carries contractual liability coverage with no labor law exclusions, meaning if a worker is injured on your project, our insurance covers the claim, not yours. We also offer written indemnification agreements for commercial projects in both NY and CT. When signed by both parties, this agreement provides additional protection: If a claim is made against you related to our work, our insurance covers it.

Why Certificates Of Insurance Aren't Enough

Many building owners feel secure when they receive a Certificate of Insurance (COI) from a contractor, but in New York, that's not enough.

  • COIs do not guarantee the contractor has labor law coverage
  • Being named "additional insured" means little without the right policy in place
  • A "hold harmless" clause is not legally binding if the contractor lacks proper insurance

What To Ask Before Hiring Any Contractor

Make sure your painter or contractor has coverage that actually protects you:

Tip: Ask your insurance agent to review the Acord 855 form. It outlines whether you're truly protected.

  • Do they carry contractual liability with no exclusions for NY Labor Law 240/241?
  • Will they provide an Acord 855 form for review?
  • Are their subcontractors covered?
  • Will they sign a formal indemnification agreement?

With over a century of experience, we've seen it all, and we've adapted to keep our clients safe:
